Festival 2009

156 choreographers from all over the world applied, seven artists from seven countries were nominated – now the audience has made its decision: the audience prizes of the fifth international internet-dancefestival SideBySide-net go to Birgit Bodingbauer from Germany (1st prize), Adriana Cubides from Austria (2nd prize) and Marcel Leemann from Switzerland (3rd prize). Apart from that, all artists who took part in the festival can be proud of having reached a great and broadly spread audience: SideBySide-net 2009 accounted for 24.000 unique visitors in 60 days.

The festival’s first highlight was its great opening at Stadtmuseum Düsseldorf, where all nominees introduced themselves to the audience via live-performances and dance clips and received standing ovations.

A couple of weeks later, visitors of the gallery of Walter Padao had a similar pleasure to watch the diverse pieces and to vote for them at the Gloria Hall.

As an organizer, we have further promoted the festival concept in favour of all artists who have taken part or will do so in the future: On this year’s Scandinavian dance congress Kedja, we were invited to give a presentation on SideBySide-net, the worldwide first and leading internet-based dance festival
